Vivek Oberoi Donates Ramayana Fee to Charity

Actor Vivek Oberoi has made headlines with a heartfelt gesture that reflects both his generosity and deep admiration for Indian cinema’s most ambitious project — Ramayana. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the magnum opus stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi in lead roles and is being produced on a massive scale by Namit Malhotra. Vivek Oberoi will portray Vibhishan, the righteous brother of Raavan, in this much-anticipated cinematic retelling of the Indian epic.

However, it is not just Vivek’s role that has caught people’s attention, but his noble decision to donate his entire fee from the film to charity. The actor has announced that he will not accept any payment for his performance in Ramayana, choosing instead to direct his earnings towards helping children battling cancer.

Vivek Oberoi’s Noble Decision

In a recent interview, Vivek Oberoi revealed that his decision to forgo his fee came from a place of gratitude and respect for the film’s vision. “I told Namit that I don’t want a penny for this. I want to donate it to any cause that I believe in, and one that is very close to my heart — helping kids with cancer,” he said.

The actor, who has been actively involved in philanthropic activities for years, added that his involvement in Ramayana was about more than just being part of a movie. “I told Namit that I want to support this film because I love what they’re doing. This project will take Indian cinema to the global stage with a bang,” he said.

Vivek’s selfless act has won praise from fans and colleagues across the industry. Many have called his gesture a rare example of an actor using his stardom and earnings to create meaningful change.

Bringing Ramayana to the Global Stage

Vivek Oberoi also spoke highly of Ramayana’s grand vision, commending producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari for their commitment to delivering a world-class cinematic experience. “What Namit and Nitesh are doing is extraordinary. Through Ramayana, they are taking Bharatiya cinema to the global stage. This film is going to be India’s answer to Hollywood epics,” he said.

The actor highlighted the film’s strong association with a world-renowned VFX company that has won several Oscars for its visual effects. “They are associated with a company that has already won seven or eight Oscars for VFX and worked on some of the most iconic films in the world. To take an Indian-rooted story like Ramayana and present it on that level — it doesn’t get bigger or better than this,” Vivek added.

Directed by Dangal and Chhichhore fame Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana has been one of the most talked-about projects in Indian cinema for several years. The film aims to reimagine the ancient Indian epic with cutting-edge technology, global-level visual effects, and a stellar cast.

Ranbir Kapoor will play the role of Lord Ram, while Yash, the KGF star, will appear as Raavan. Actress Sai Pallavi will portray Sita, bringing her trademark grace and depth to the character. Vivek Oberoi’s role as Vibhishan — Raavan’s righteous brother who sides with Lord Ram — is expected to be a crucial one, symbolizing loyalty, truth, and moral courage.

The film’s production scale is massive, with reports suggesting that it will be released in multiple parts. Ramayana: Part 1 is already generating immense buzz and is expected to hit theatres during Diwali 2026.
