Pradeep Ranganathan Vows to Never Miss a Rajinikanth Film’s FDFS Screening

Actor and filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan, currently busy promoting his upcoming film Dude, directed by debutant Keertiswaran and starring Mamitha Baiju, has shared his lifelong admiration for superstar Rajinikanth. The film is set to release on Deepavali, and in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Pradeep opened up about his passion for watching Rajinikanth’s movies on their First Day, First Show (FDFS).

A College Student’s Rajinikanth Obsession

Pradeep fondly recalled his college days when he would prioritize Rajinikanth films over exams. “When Lingaa released, I had a college exam the next day, but that didn’t stop me. I went for the 12 am show, poured milk on his banner, and celebrated like every other fan. There are still videos of me climbing the cutout and pouring milk—it’s all on my old Facebook page,” he shared.

He added that even small details in the film felt personal to him. “In the climax of Lingaa, there’s a bike scene done by a stunt double, but I convinced myself it was Rajini sir. When I rode my own bike home after the show, I felt the same energy as him,” Pradeep said.

Pradeep’s dedication didn’t stop there. “For Coolie, I went to the first show, and for Kochadaiyaan, I had an exam in the afternoon but still made sure to catch the 11 am show. I don’t think I’ll ever miss a Rajini sir FDFS, no matter what,” he added.

Receiving Praise from Rajinikanth: A Dream Come True

Being a fan of Rajinikanth, one of Pradeep’s biggest milestones was receiving personal praise from the superstar after his films Love Today and Dragon.

When asked about his reaction to Rajinikanth’s compliments, Pradeep said, “I didn’t say anything because he must’ve heard the same line from crores of people over fifty years. Saying ‘I’m your biggest fan’ is nothing new for him. What mattered was how I felt in that moment.”

He continued, “After Love Today was released, he told me I had a bright future. When someone like him says that, why should I worry about what anyone else thinks or says? That became my biggest motivation.”

A Memorable Meeting After Dragon

Pradeep also recounted a unique moment from his meeting with Rajinikanth after the film Dragon. “When I met him again, he mimicked the way my character flicks a cigarette in the film. That gesture was inspired by Rajini sir’s style. But seeing him do it effortlessly made me realise the difference—he does it naturally, while I had to rehearse countless times,” Pradeep said.

He later discovered that Rajinikanth had performed the same flick in one of his 1980s films. “What more could an actor ask for than Rajini sir appreciating your style? He is the very definition of style himself,” Pradeep added.

A Lifelong Fan and Inspiration

Pradeep Ranganathan’s admiration for Rajinikanth goes beyond mere fandom. He sees the superstar as a source of motivation and inspiration in his own career. “Meeting him, receiving his compliments, and experiencing his presence firsthand was life-changing. It reinforced my belief in myself and my work,” Pradeep shared.

He also highlighted the unpredictability of life and how his encounters with Rajinikanth became a driving force for his professional journey. “Life is so unpredictable. I never thought I’d even get to experience something like this. It reminds me to keep pushing forward,” he said.

Rajinikanth’s Influence on Pradeep’s Style

Pradeep’s storytelling, filmmaking, and even his acting gestures have been influenced by Rajinikanth’s style. From cinematic movements to small mannerisms, the superstar’s iconic style has inspired Pradeep to refine his own craft.

Pradeep Ranganathan’s love for Rajinikanth demonstrates the impact of a legendary actor on fans and filmmakers alike. From college days of late-night FDFS shows to receiving personal praise from his idol, Rajinikanth has played a pivotal role in shaping Pradeep’s career and passion for cinema.

For Pradeep, missing a Rajinikanth FDFS is unthinkable, and the superstar’s style, charisma, and guidance continue to inspire him as he gears up for his next release, Dude.
