Comedian Jaswinder Bhalla Passes Away
Jaswinder Bhalla, a celebrated name in the Punjabi film industry, is no more. He began his career in 1988 with the comedy show Unkarta 88 and made his film debut with Dulla Bhatti. Bhalla was best known for his iconic comedy series Chhankarta and the memorable comic roles he played in Punjabi films. His trademark use of unique taglines in every film added a special charm to his performances.
Beyond films, he entertained audiences worldwide through stage shows, including the popular Naughty Baba in Town, which he performed in Canada and Australia.
Family Background and Education
Bhalla was born on 4 May 1960 in Ludhiana city. His father, Master Bahadur Singh Bhalla, was a primary school teacher in village Barmalipur. Bhalla did his early schooling from Senior Secondary School, Doraha. He did his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Punjab Agricultural University. He then obtained his Ph.D. degree from Chaudhary Charan Singh Post Graduate College, Meerut.

Jaswinder Bhalla was married to Paramdeep Bhalla, a fine arts teacher. Their son, Pukhraj Bhalla, is pursuing a B.Tech in Audio Visuals from Punjab University, Patiala. He has been part of the Chhankarta series since 2002 and has also delivered notable performances in several Punjabi films. Their daughter, Ashpreet Kaur, is married and settled in Norway.
