The Creta and Venue delivered impressive sales for Hyundai in September 2025, yet the brand secured only the fourth position, behind Tata and Mahindra.
Hyundai India slipped to the fourth position in September 2025 sales despite registering over 50,000 units in domestic retail. The second spot, previously held by the South Korean automaker, was claimed by Tata Motors, while Mahindra secured third place with a narrow margin of around 3,000 units. Had long maintained its dominance in the second position, but over the past 12–15 months, the ranking has seen frequent shifts among Tata, Mahindra, and Hyundai.
Recent GST
The recent GST rate reduction has significantly benefited the leading to price cuts of up to ₹1.50 lakh depending on the variant. This move spurred a remarkable surge in sales, with volumes rising to 11,484 units in September 2025, compared to 8,109 units in August 2024. To boost momentum further, offering substantial festive discounts on the Venue as it prepares to launch the next-generation model on November 4 in India.

The Aura sedan emerged as the third biggest gainer following the 2025 GST reforms, registering an impressive 21% year-on-year growth. The company sold 5,387 units of the Aura in September 2025, up from 4,462 units in the same month last year. In contrast, several other models — including the Exter, Grand i10, and i20 — recorded YoY declines of 18%, 17%, and 12%, respectively.
Year-on-year sales for the Verna and Alcazar declined sharply by 39% and 54%, respectively. The Verna continued it’s downward trend, marking the third consecutive month with sales in just triple digits. However, the Alcazar displayed slight signs of recovery, registering a 4% month-on-month increase — with 1,234 units sold in September 2025 compared to 1,187 units in August 2025.

In September 2025, sold 85 units of the Tucson and 6 units of the Ioniq 5. This marks a year-on-year decline of 13% and 81%, respectively, compared to September 2024, when sales stood at 98 units and 31 units. Notably, preparing to launch the facelifted Ioniq 5 in early 2026 in India, featuring an extended driving range.
