Faridabad Doctor Terrorist
The News Cities J&K police found 350 kg of explosive material suspected to be ammonium nitrate, an AK-47 rifle, a pistol, three magazines, 20 timers, a walkie-talkie set, and ammunition were discovered inside the rented room at Dhauj village while conducting a major security operation in Faridabad. He also said a doctor from Jammu and Kashmir was detained in the operation.
Cops of the city police too were deployed in the operation, said a Faridabad police official.
The recovery followed the arrest of Dr Adil Ahmad Rather, a doctor hailing from Kashmir who was arrested on October 27 in Srinagar for allegedly pasting posters supporting the banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
News Cities J&K police: Under interrogation, Rather shared information that helped them to trace another Pulwama-based doctor, Dr Muzammil Shakeel (also known as Muzammil Shakeel or Mujahil Shakil), who works at Al-Falah Hospital in Faridabad, said Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta, while addressing a press conference on Monday afternoon.
The stash was reportedly seized from Shakeel’s home during a swoop on Sunday, police said. Shakeel had taken the house on rent about three months ago at Dhauj.
However, according Faridabad Police Commissioner, the material was ammonium nitrate and not RDX as some media reports initially said.
News Cities J&K police had earlier carried out raids and searched Rather’s locker at the Government Medical College in Anantnag, where he served as a senior resident till October last year, after which they recovered an AK-47 rifle.
Further investigation is being conducted by the police to ascertain the intended use of the explosives that were stockpiled near Delhi and how such a large quantity was transported undetected.
