Veteran Actor Dharmendra Admitted to Mumbai Hospital

Legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra, aged 89, has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, sources told NDTV. The veteran star, who will celebrate his 90th birthday on December 8, has reportedly been in the hospital for the past four to five days.

According to insiders close to the family, Dharmendra’s hospital visit was for a routine health check-up, and there is no cause for concern. The actor is said to be doing fine and is under medical observation as part of standard health procedures.

Routine Visit, Not an Emergency

Fans of the veteran actor were initially worried when reports surfaced about his hospitalisation. However, sources have clarified that Dharmendra’s admission is purely precautionary. The actor, known for maintaining a positive attitude towards life, has always been careful about his health.

This is not the first time Dharmendra has had a hospital visit in recent months. In April 2024, the actor underwent an eye graft surgery, also known as corneal transplantation. At the time, videos of him leaving the hospital with a bandaged right eye had gone viral on social media.

Dharmendra’s Positive Spirit After Eye Surgery

In that viral clip, Dharmendra, wearing a printed shirt, black pants, and his signature black hat, was seen smiling and waving to the paparazzi as he walked toward his car. Despite just coming out of surgery, the actor looked cheerful and in good spirits.

When photographers expressed concern about his health, Dharmendra reassured them with his trademark charm and humor. He said,

“I am strong. Abhi bhi Dharmendra mein bahut dum hai. Abhi bhi jaan rakhta hoon. Meri aankh, eye graft (corneal transplantation) ho gayi hai. I am strong.”
(Translation: I am strong. Dharmendra still has a lot of strength. I still have the spirit. My eye has undergone a graft surgery, but I’m fine.)

He also expressed his love for his fans, saying, “Love you, my audience and my fans,” showing once again why he remains one of the most adored stars in Indian cinema.
