A tragic incident during Diwali celebrations in Dubai has left the Indian community in shock. Vaishnav Krishnakumar, an 18-year-old student at Middlesex University Dubai, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest during the festivities.
Sudden Death During Diwali Celebrations
According to reports, the young student suddenly collapsed while celebrating Diwali with friends and family. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Authorities later confirmed that the cause of death was cardiac arrest.

The Dubai Police Forensic Department has begun an investigation to understand what led to the sudden collapse. Officials said arrangements are being made to repatriate Vaishnav’s body to Kerala, where his family will perform the last rites.
Family members said that Vaishnav had no known heart problems, making his sudden death even more shocking.
Who Was Vaishnav Krishnakumar?

Vaishnav Krishnakumar was an 18-year-old Indian student from Chennithala, Alappuzha, in Kerala. He was the son of VG Krishnakumar and Vidhu Krishnakumar, who have lived and worked in Dubai for over 20 years. Vaishnav and his younger sister, Vrishti Krishnakumar, were both born and brought up in the UAE.
Relatives in Kerala described Vaishnav as a bright, intelligent, and well-mannered boy who had a strong academic record. “They rarely visited Chennithala. The last time they came here was two years ago for the housewarming ceremony of their new home. Vaishnav was a smart and friendly boy with most of his friends in Dubai,” a family member told PTI.
Academic Journey and Achievements
Vaishnav was a first-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) student specializing in Marketing at Middlesex University Dubai. Before that, he completed his schooling at GEMS Our Own Indian School, one of the UAE’s most reputed institutions for Indian students.
Friends and teachers remember him as a hardworking student with leadership qualities and a deep passion for learning. His peers said that he was always enthusiastic about new opportunities and enjoyed being involved in student activities.
Recipient of the UAE Golden Visa
One of Vaishnav’s most remarkable achievements was being awarded the UAE Golden Visa, a long-term residence visa granted to individuals who have made outstanding academic or professional contributions. The visa allows foreigners to live, study, and work in the UAE for five or ten years without needing a local sponsor.
Being a recipient of this visa at such a young age was a sign of his exceptional achievements and potential. Many in Dubai’s Indian community saw Vaishnav as a rising star and a role model for young students.
Leadership in Model United Nations (MUN)
Apart from academics, Vaishnav was also deeply involved in extracurricular activities, especially Model United Nations (MUN). According to his LinkedIn profile, he held significant leadership positions in his school’s MUN club.
He served as the President of the MUN Club and had earlier worked as Vice President. During his time with MUN, Vaishnav chaired several committees and received multiple awards for Best Delegate and Best Chair. His passion for global issues and public speaking earned him recognition among his peers and mentors.
A Promising Life Cut Short

Vaishnav’s sudden death has deeply saddened the Indian community in Dubai and Kerala. Friends, classmates, and teachers have flooded social media with emotional tributes, remembering him as a kind, ambitious, and talented young man with a bright future ahead.
As his family prepares to bring him home for his final journey, many are left heartbroken over the loss of a young life full of dreams and potential.
