Back in the U.S., Kristen rarely used public transportation, but in India, she frequently travels by cab, metro, rickshaw, and train. “They’re cheap and easy to access here,” she points out. Along with transportation, her wardrobe has also evolved. She now embraces Indian clothing and is currently working on mastering the art of draping a saree. “I love the fashions and the feel of the clothes here,” she shares.

Kristen now prefers buying fresh produce from local street vendors instead of the packaged, week-old items commonly found in American supermarkets. She has also adopted a vegetarian lifestyle. “India offers such variety in vegetarian food that I don’t even think twice about it anymore,” she notes.

Another significant change is her newfound love for riding a scooter. “In the U.S., scooters are actually illegal on most roads, but here I love how easy it is to get around,” she explains. She has also taken on the challenge of learning Hindi, calling it a tough but necessary part of living in India.

Kristen’s children now attend a private school, something she wouldn’t have considered in the U.S. due to high costs. She’s also grown fond of bargaining in outdoor markets, describing it as fun and satisfying. And finally, one change she swears by: using the jet spray. “I’m never going back. It’s far cleaner and just makes sense.”
