‘Saiyaara’ OTT Release: Fans Defend Ahaan Panday & Aneet Padda’s Film, Claim It Deserved Success

Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s Saiyaara is no longer just a romantic movie; it has turned into a nationwide sensation. Having shattered multiple box office records, the film is now available on OTT, allowing those who missed it in theatres to stream it anytime on Netflix. Released on September 12, Saiyaara has already received an outpouring of love from fans. Many also came forward to defend the film against criticism that arose after viral videos showed fans crying inside cinemas.

What Sparked the Backlash Against Saiyaara During Its Theatrical Release?

Saiyaara marked a perfect debut for Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, setting the stage for greater opportunities ahead. The film went on to earn Rs. 577 crore globally, becoming the second-highest-grossing Indian movie of 2025. However, despite its success, Saiyaara also faced significant criticism. Much of the backlash stemmed from viral Instagram reels and YouTube shorts showing audience reactions—fans crying, gasping for breath, and displaying intense emotions inside theatres.

Saiyaara created massive buzz, but some critics accused the filmmakers of staging the emotional audience reactions as paid promotions. Although the director and producers strongly denied these claims, many remained unconvinced and decided to boycott the film, changing their minds about buying tickets. Now, with Saiyaara available on OTT, a wider audience has been able to watch it and has strongly criticized those who judged the movie solely based on the viral clips of emotional viewers.

Hope they actually sit down and watch it now that it’s on #Netflix.” Many others also responded to the controversy surrounding Saiyaara being a remake of the Korean film A Moment to Remember, defending the movie for its unique take and emotional depth.

One fan wrote, “Watching it right now. I don’t care what anyone else feels, I loved the movie in theatres and am absolutely bawling right now. Loved Mohit Suri’s musicals and love stories. And don’t come at me saying Korean Remake, I know it.” Overall, the response OTT release turned out to be even more positive and enthusiastic than its theatrical debut.
