Bills shock Ravens as Allen sparks wild comeback win

The Buffalo Bills pulled off a thrilling comeback to stun the Baltimore Ravens on an unforgettable opening Sunday of the new NFL season.

In a clash of recent MVPs, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson traded moments of brilliance in a game that may stand as one of the season’s best. Despite trailing late in the fourth quarter, the Bills rallied to snatch a dramatic 41-40 victory.

Elsewhere, Aaron Rodgers and Micah Parsons made winning debuts with their new teams—the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers—while the Indianapolis Colts snapped the league’s longest opening-day drought with an impressive performance.

MVPs Deliver Instant Classic in Buffalo

Some fans had already streamed out of Highmark Stadium as the Bills trailed by 15 in the fourth quarter—before Josh Allen reminded everyone why he’s the reigning MVP. The quarterback orchestrated a breathtaking rally, sealing Buffalo’s 41-40 victory with a last-second 32-yard field goal from 41-year-old Matt Prater, who had only joined the team days earlier.

Earlier, Lamar Jackson showcased his two-time MVP pedigree, carving up Buffalo’s defense and teaming with Derrick Henry, who rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns. But Henry’s late fumble opened the door for Allen’s heroics.

Allen racked up 394 total yards with four touchdowns—two passing, two rushing—while engineering 16 points in just four minutes. The comeback marked Buffalo’s first 15-point fourth-quarter rally since 1967, arriving in the opening game of their farewell season at the current Highmark Stadium.

“Our team didn’t quit,” Allen told NBC. “I think some people left the stadium, and that’s OK—but have some faith next time.”

In a clash billed as a battle of MVPs, Allen and Jackson produced a spectacle that somehow exceeded the hype.

Rodgers Sends a Message to the Jets

Aaron Rodgers thrives on proving doubters wrong. Just months after the New York Jets cut ties with him, the 41-year-old quarterback made a statement in his Pittsburgh Steelers debut—throwing four touchdown passes in a wild 34-32 win back in New York.

“There were probably people in the organization who didn’t think I could play anymore, so it was nice to remind them that I still can,” Rodgers said after the game.

The Jets sabotaged themselves with a costly fumble, while Chris Boswell drilled a franchise-record 60-yard field goal in the final minute to seal the victory. Still, the night belonged to Rodgers, who looked sharp and mobile, zipping passes with ease.

In doing so, he became the first player in 15 years to throw four touchdowns against his former team—an emphatic reminder that he’s far from finished.

Packers Dominate on Parsons’ Debut

Green Bay’s marquee signing Micah Parsons received a thunderous welcome at Lambeau Field—and wasted no time showing his impact. Despite playing just 29 of 65 snaps, Parsons sacked Jared Goff and kept the Detroit quarterback under constant pressure as the Packers cruised to a 27-13 win.

Traded from Dallas only 10 days earlier, Parsons admitted he’s still adjusting to his new surroundings—he even jogged to the wrong end of the field during warm-ups.

“The fact that I was traded a week before the season was really outrageous and rough,” Parsons said.

Even so, his presence alone lifted Green Bay’s defense, and once he’s fully settled, the Packers could boast one of the NFL’s most fearsome units.

Colts End Opening-Day Hoodoo in Style

After 11 straight Week 1 defeats, the Indianapolis Colts finally broke their curse—and did it in emphatic fashion. Their first opening-day victory since 2013 came with a statement 33-8 win over the Miami Dolphins, led by new quarterback Daniel Jones.

The former Giants QB delivered a stunning debut, throwing for 272 yards and a touchdown while adding two rushing scores of his own. Even more remarkably, the Colts scored on all seven of their possessions—something the NFL confirmed hadn’t been done in at least 47 years.

It was a performance worthy of tribute to former owner Jim Irsay, who passed away in May, and a reminder that this Colts team may be ready to turn the page.

Rookies Shine and Wild Finishes Highlight NFL Action

The Cincinnati Bengals finally avoided their familiar early-season stumble, edging the Cleveland Browns 17-16. After starting 0-2 or worse in each of the past three years—and with Joe Burrow entering the game 1-9 in Weeks 1-2—the narrow win felt like a huge relief. Their much-criticized defense delivered late to secure the one-point victory.

Rookies provided some of the week’s most dramatic moments. Tampa Bay’s Emeka Egbuka became just the second rookie since the 1970 merger to score a game-winning touchdown in the final minute, lifting the Buccaneers past Atlanta after the Falcons missed a desperate last-second field goal.

In New England, Las Vegas rookie running back Ashton Jeanty found the end zone in the Raiders’ victory over the Patriots, while Washington’s Jacory Croskey-Merritt exploded for 82 yards and a touchdown as the Commanders rolled over the Giants.

Elsewhere, veterans left their mark. Matthew Stafford passed the 60,000-yard milestone, becoming just the 10th quarterback in NFL history to do so, as the Rams beat Houston. The 49ers defeated Seattle but lost tight end George Kittle to a hamstring injury.

Highly touted rookie Travis Hunter made his long-awaited debut for Jacksonville, catching six passes for 33 yards and even lining up on defense in a win over Carolina. Meanwhile, top overall draft pick Cam Ward’s debut ended in disappointment as the Titans fell to the Denver Broncos.
