From August 15, the country will roll out an annual toll pass scheme that will significantly reduce toll expenses for frequent travelers. With this pass, you can cross toll plazas for just ₹15 per trip for an entire year.
Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that under the new annual FASTag system, the pass will cost ₹3,000 and will cover 200 trips. Here, one trip refers to crossing a toll plaza once. Effectively, each crossing will cost only ₹15.

Here’s a detailed look at where you can get this toll pass and how it will work.
The FASTag Annual Pass is essentially a prepaid toll payment scheme designed specifically for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans.
Announcing the initiative, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari explained that the scheme aims to address long-standing issues faced by commuters, especially at toll plazas located within a 60-kilometer radius. With this pass, toll payments are streamlined into a single, affordable transaction for the entire year.
By minimizing wait times, reducing congestion, and avoiding disputes at toll plazas, the Annual Pass is intended to provide a faster, smoother, and more convenient travel experience for millions of private vehicle owners.
The special thing is that for this people do not need to buy a new tag, rather it will be linked to your existing FASTag. Its condition is that your existing FASTag should be active and linked to your vehicle registration number. This scheme will be applicable only on national highways and expressways under NHAI and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH). There is no need to recharge online repeatedly, making it especially useful for daily commuters. This pass is non-transferable. It can be used only with registered vehicles.

Where Will the FASTag Annual Pass Work?
The FASTag Annual Pass will be valid only at toll plazas located on National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE) that are operated by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Examples include routes like the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, Mumbai–Nashik, Mumbai–Surat, and Mumbai–Ratnagiri.
On state highways or municipal toll roads, your FASTag will continue to function as usual, but regular toll rates will apply. Examples of such routes include the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, Mumbai–Nagpur Expressway (Samruddhi Mahamarg), Atal Setu, Agra–Lucknow Expressway, Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway, and Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway — all of which are managed by state authorities.
ss. By making payment on FASTag Annual Pass, you will get validity for the next 1 year or up to 200 toll crossings.

How to Activate the FASTag Annual Pass
The Indian Highway Management Company Limited (IHMCL) has issued detailed guidelines for activating the FASTag Annual Pass, addressing common queries and outlining the step-by-step process.
According to IHMCL, activation can be done only through the RajmargYatra mobile app or the NHAI portal. Here’s how it works:
- Check Eligibility – The vehicle owner must first verify whether their vehicle and the existing FASTag meet the eligibility criteria.
- Make Payment – Once verification is complete, a payment of ₹3,000 needs to be made.
- Activation Timeline – The Annual Pass will be activated within 2 hours of payment confirmation.
- Use Existing FASTag – No new FASTag is required; the pass will be linked to your current FASTag.
With this process, you can start enjoying reduced toll charges quickly, without replacing your existing tag.

There will be a saving of Rs 7000
The price of this pass has been kept at Rs 3000, which includes 200 journeys. One journey means crossing the toll plaza once. That means only Rs 15 will be spent per toll. Currently, crossing the toll plaza 200 times costs around Rs 10,000, but in the new scheme, this work will cost only Rs 3000. This means that there will be a direct saving of about Rs 7000 for those driving passenger vehicles. This pass will be valid for 1 year. If you cross 200 tolls before the end of the year, then its validity will expire. After this you will have to recharge again.
