Bihar businessman Gopal Khemka, who was shot dead outside his home in Patna Friday, had an altercation with another businessman, Ashok Sahu, and the latter had threatened him and even trained a gun at him during the brawl, police have found.
Ashok Sahu, a resident of Nalanda, has now been arrested for allegedly hiring contract killers to bump off Mr Khemka.
Police sources claim that Ashok Sahu and Mr. Gopal Khemka got into at least two fights, one of which was over the Bankipore Club election in Patna last year. It is reported that Ashok Sahu paid murderers Rs 10 lakh to assassinate Mr. Gopal Khemka. Late on Friday night, Mr. Gopal Khemka was in his car just outside his home’s gate when a man came up to shoot him dead and ran away.
Umesh, the suspected shooter, has been taken into custody by police. Vikas, another accused who allegedly went with Umesh, was shot and killed after an altercation.
Magadh Hospital and a number of gas stations were owned by Mr. Khemka. A land dispute led to the murder of his son in Hajipur seven years ago.
