But true to his reputation, the 38 -year-old turned things around, taking the next three sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to book his spot in the quarter-finals. This was his 101st win at Wimbledon, another feather in his already overloaded cap.

The match was especially symbolic. With Roger Federer watching from the Royal Box, Djokovic delivered under pressure, showcasing the same intensity that has brought him 24 Grand Slam titles.
