In a shocking and heart-wrenching incident, the charred body of a 13-year-old boy, who had gone missing the previous day, was discovered on Thursday in a deserted area along Kaggalipura Road in Bengaluru. The boy, identified as Nishchith A, was a Class 8 student at the reputed Christ School.
The tragedy unfolded on Wednesday evening when Nishchith left his residence on Arekere 80 Feet Road around 5 PM to attend his regular tuition class. However, he never reached the class, and by 7:30 PM, his parents—concerned by his absence—began searching for him. His father, JC Achit, an assistant professor at a private college, filed a police complaint after initial efforts to locate him proved futile.
The tuition teacher, when contacted, confirmed that Nishchith had not turned up for class. While combing through the area, the worried parents came across their son’s bicycle abandoned near the Arekere family park, deepening their fears. The situation took a disturbing turn when they received a call from an unknown number. The caller demanded a ransom of ₹5 lakh for the safe return of their son.
Acting on the complaint and the ransom call, the Hulimavu police registered a case of kidnapping and swung into action. Multiple police teams were deployed to track the caller’s location and launch an extensive search operation. Sadly, on Thursday, the boy’s partially burnt body was found in an isolated patch of land along Kaggalipura Road, confirming the worst fears of the family and law enforcement.

Later that night, police arrested two suspects following a dramatic turn of events. During a late-night encounter on Thursday, two men—identified as Gurumurthy and Gopal Krishna—were injured when they allegedly tried to assault police personnel attempting to arrest them. In response, police fired a total of six rounds in self-defence.
Gurumurthy sustained gunshot wounds in both legs, while Gopal Krishna was hit in one leg. Both men were taken into custody and are receiving medical treatment under tight security. Preliminary investigations revealed that Gurumurthy had once worked as a spare driver at Nishchith’s residence and was well-acquainted with the family. Police believe he masterminded the kidnapping, leveraging his familiarity with the family’s routine and vulnerabilities.
Officials are now focused on uncovering the full extent of the conspiracy. Investigators are examining whether the two men acted alone or if other individuals were involved in planning or executing the heinous act. Senior police officers confirmed that multiple leads are being followed and all angles, including motive and method, are under close scrutiny.
This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the city and reignited concerns over the safety of children. As the investigation progresses, Bengaluru Police have vowed to bring everyone responsible to justice and provide all possible support to the grieving family.
