10-Year-Old Ishit Bhatt’s ‘Overconfidence’ on KBC Sparks Parenting Debate

A 10-year-old boy from Gandhinagar, Gujarat — Ishit Bhatt — has become the talk of the nation after his recent appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) Season 17. His confident, and at times assertive, interaction with host Amitabh Bachchan has gone viral, leading to a heated debate on parenting, manners, and children’s behaviour on television.

Ishit Bhatt’s Bold Moments on KBC

During his episode, Ishit impressed many with his quick responses but also surprised viewers with his confident attitude. Right at the beginning, when Amitabh Bachchan began explaining the game rules, Ishit interrupted, saying, “Mere ko rules pata hai, isliye aap mereko abhi rules samjhane mat baithna” (I already know the rules, so don’t start explaining them to me).

His assertive tone continued throughout the show. At one point, he said, “Arre option daalo” (Come on, give me the options), and later added, “Sir ek kya, usmein chaar lock lagado, lekin lock karo” (Sir, not just one, put four locks on it, but do lock it).

However, his overconfidence soon backfired. When asked a question related to the Ramayana, Ishit requested the options but eventually gave the wrong answer, leaving the show without any prize money. Responding to his performance, Amitabh Bachchan gently commented, “Kabhi kabhi bachhe over confidence mein galti kar dete hai” (Sometimes children make mistakes due to overconfidence).

Viral Video and Online Reactions(10-Year-Old Ishit Bhatt)

The clip of Ishit’s episode quickly spread across social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube. Thousands of users shared their opinions, turning the child’s behaviour into a topic of national discussion.

Some viewers criticised Ishit’s tone and blamed modern parenting styles for encouraging arrogance. One user wrote, “It’s okay if your child has knowledge, but if he doesn’t have manners or know how to talk to elders, he’ll never succeed.” Another added, “Perfect ending. Arrogance got schooled. Maybe now the parents will learn that raising a brat isn’t parenting, it’s public nuisance training.”

However, others felt the criticism was too harsh for a child. Some pointed out that television shows often encourage dramatic behaviour for higher viewership and that Ishit might have been following directions from producers or editors.

Parenting and Manners Under the Spotlight

The episode reignited a long-standing discussion about the balance between confidence and humility in children. Many parents and educators on social media commented that while confidence is important, kids must also be taught respect and empathy — especially when interacting with elders or appearing in public spaces like national TV.

The debate also touched on the role of parents and TV producers. Some questioned whether enough guidance is provided to young contestants before they appear on shows like KBC. Others felt that the pressure of performing in front of cameras can lead to nervous or overconfident behaviour, especially in children.

Chinmayi Sripaada Comes to Ishit’s Defense

Amid the criticism, playback singer Chinmayi Sripaada stepped forward to defend the young contestant. Calling the online trolling “bullying,” she wrote on X, “Adults here on Twitter have been foul-mouthed and abusive, but now they are picking on a child. It says a lot about our ecosystem. Picking on one overexcited kid — what a horrible bunch of bullies these people have become.”

Her post received strong support, with many agreeing that adults should show restraint while commenting on children. Others appreciated her for shifting the focus toward the toxic nature of online discussions.

Are Reality Shows Putting Pressure on Kids?

The controversy has also raised larger questions about the impact of reality TV on children. Critics argue that competitive shows like KBC, while entertaining, might place emotional pressure on young minds. The structured nature of these programs, designed to boost ratings, can sometimes encourage exaggerated behaviour that later attracts public criticism.

At the same time, many viewers believe such shows also offer children valuable exposure and confidence-building opportunities — provided they are guided properly by parents and producers.

As Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 reportedly faces falling TRP ratings, Ishit Bhatt’s episode has brought renewed attention to the show. But beyond the entertainment value, it has opened a serious discussion about how society views children’s confidence, and how parents, educators, and media producers should help shape respectful yet self-assured young minds.

The viral moment may have started as a lighthearted TV incident, but it has ultimately sparked one of the most meaningful conversations about modern parenting, manners, and the pressures of growing up in the public eye.
